FAQ's
Q: What do you sell?
A: At Upstream, we sell aluminum water bottles and t-shirts made of 100% cotton. When a water bottle is bought, one 5-gallon bucketful of waste is removed from the river. From there, trash is properly disposed of, and the plastic/recyclables will be given to a partner who then takes the recyclables to a plant in Milwaukee, WI.
Q: How far do you ship?
A: As of right now, Upstream does ship. If you order a water bottle and choose to meet, we can meet you at the Soc. Ent. Work space in Conover Square, Oregon IL. If that doesn’t work for you, we can meet you for free within 5 mi. of downtown Oregon and only a $1 for every mi. outside of that.
Q: Can I pay cash for my water bottle? Check? Card?
A: Yes, you can pay with cash, check, card, or PayPal. Upstream does this to ensure convenience for our customers, and ensure that we can eliminate waste as much as possible.

Q: How did you come up with your name?
A: What we wanted to do was symbolize the small town start-up by using a small body of water, hence the "stream". To add to it, I added "up" to it because it represents the uphill struggle against pollution and garbage that can potentially end up in the water.
Q: How much does your merch cost?
A: We offer a low price of $15/water bottle and $18/shirt. The shirts don't come with the water clean up, but they do have a stylish logo and are a nice way to give to the cause without buying a water bottle you don't need!
Q: How do we know that you get the trash?
A; We will document using photographs and they will be shared directly with the customer and some will even be posted to our website!
Q: How do you clean?
A: We go along the banks of the river and even out in the river to scoop trash with a 5 gallon bucket. To let the water out we drill holes in the bottom of the bucket, but still small enough to keep the trash and recyclables contained.
Q: Why the Rock River?
A: We wanted to start local and make an impact on a small community were we make a more noticeable difference. However, if our company grows, we are more than happy to broaden our help
Q: How will you clean in the winter?
A: We have an alternative in the winter to ensure the safety of those trying to help clean. We take plastics and disposables from local companies like Arrow Beauty and Bandy's Brass Class. We separate the recyclables and trash and dispose of each properly (trash in the garbage and recyclables will go to the plant).
